Childbirth Classes
Childbirth educators offer classes that provide information to expectant parents about the stages of labor and delivery, pain management and relaxation techniques, basic infant care, and in many cases, typical interventions and procedures in the hospital. Independent childbirth educators are generally not affiliated with a hospital and the information they provide generally does not center on a particular hospital’s policies and recommendations. Many offer a curriculum based on a certain philosophy or approach. It is important to ask a potential childbirth educator questions before enrolling in a course to ensure a good match between your needs and expectations and their approach and philosophy.

management technique might work best. This class covers many different methods of pain management and non-drug comfort measures and offers options for you and your partner. The curriculum supports birth as normal, natural and healthy and empowers women to make informed choices and welcome this important rite of passage!
Classes run for 6 sessions, 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday evenings and are held at the Vanderbilt School of Nursing.
